Stars and Stripes

Today I’m sharing my latest design team project for The Craft Scrapper – a fun little canvas project I made for the upcoming July 4th holiday.Growing up, July 4th was one of my favorite holidays because we’d get together with family, eat too much, and then watch the fireworks. I still enjoy the festivities and the celebration of America.

For this project, I started with a linen covered canvas to which I applied a background of stars using a stencil and modeling paste. Once the paste dried, I added clear Wink of Stella to most of them, and platinum Stickles to a few.

I made paper rosettes from the new Authentique United collection. A Tim Holtz paper doll, mirrored star, cabinet card frame, and mini numeral embellish it. I cut the denim star from a Tim Holtz textile surface using the Tim Holtz die. Tinsel trim and more Stickles on the rosettes give it just the right touch of sparkle.

A gorgeous May Arts ribbon acts as a hanger.

I hope you have a festive 4th!

Ohh, this is gorgeous, Erica! Those layered rosettes are absolutely stunning, and I love the star background with the accents of glitter. Such a fun use for that little paper doll. What a sweet home decor piece for the Fourth!
