Dreamer of Dreams

Today I’m sharing my latest design team project for The Crafty Scrapper. I started with a wooden Tim Holtz Vignette Tray, that I turned into a home for this little june bug. The Tim Holtz Quote Chips and Paperdolls provided great inspiration for each of the projects I’ve shared. I could feel their personalities wanting to come out, and I hope I spoke well for them.

This little guy needed a perch to rest on, so I gave him one of my vintage wooden spools. The paper is from the Memoranda collection, which is perfect for a vintage and distress lover like me! The paper is wonderfully layered with bits of ephemera and then given an aged and distressed look.

I made a little wall hanging for the abode using a metal charm blank that I filled with some of the new Rose Design Tape and a chit chat...

The Ornaments

Each year, I make a set of ornaments to give as gifts. This year, I decided to use some of the vintage tart tins and Jell-O molds I’ve been collecting for years. I have them in all kinds of shapes – hearts, stars, bells, flowers…

I searched and searched in EVERY box, drawer, cubby, and cabinet in my craft room, and they were no where to be found. I even thought my husband might be sneaking into my craft room and throwing things out behind my back! I managed to find a few very old, rusty, grungy tins. They would have to do.

I added a cut out of vintage sheet music to the background. Then I added a tiny bottle brush tree that I glittered, a teeny wrapped present, and a darling little Santa.

Happy 2016! We started the year off with colds, and I’m still working on putting away all the Christmas decor. But, I have projects to work on and a new one to share.

I made this collage on a piece of distressed cardboard that I painted and inked. Then  I started layering on the vintage wallpaper, tissue paper, and dress pattern ladies.

The bird image is from a paint sampler I picked up while shopping for paint colors for our upstairs loft. He was so sweet, and I just knew I could repurpose him into something fabulous.

‘Tis the Season

When I’m prepping for a class or other big project, I do some samples of techniques or with new products to see how I like them. While trying to create a background for my Believe ornament class, I tested different paints and colors on cardboard until I figured out what I liked. So, now I have all this fancy painted cardboard that is perfect to use in other projects!

For this project, I used a piece of the painted cardboard as the base. I painted it with a few colors of Distress Paint and silver Bo Bunny Glitter Paste.

I had also tested out some dies on the new KaiserCraft Home for Christmas collection, so added one as a frame around the sentiment, from the same collection.

Captured Fairy

I found this little fairy prancing through the garden yesterday. She was enjoying our cooler weather, and I think she was confused that summer may be over here in Texas.

Zunky Chic ~ Autumn Garden Fairy

Now that we’ve had some fun, how about some details. I have been loving the new Enchanted Harvest collection from Bo Bunny. I usually see fairies for spring and sometimes Christmas, but I can’t recall a collection that included them for autumn. It is so fun and adorable!

For this project, I started with a plain wooden candlestick for the base and an empty tin (that used to be full of Prima flowers).
