Woodland Fairies

I love seeing all the creative fairy gardens, and they seem to be everywhere now. I wanted to make a little keepsake fairy garden, and thought an altered Altoids tin would be perfect. I made two, because of course she needs a friend.

I started by painting the tin with gesso so my next layers of paint would stick. Then I layered on various shades of brown, copper, and gray until it looked like a piece of old wood. When I go out for walks, I keep my eye out for interesting pieces of wood, moss, lichen, pinecones, seed pods – you name it. My stash was perfect for this project!

I made the tiny mushrooms from paper clay and then painted them. I wanted the outside to look like a natural camouflage – because fairies don’t really like to be discovered.

Autumn in Fairyland

I fell in love with the new Bo Bunny Enchanted Harvest collection, and went to work making several projects. This mini book is one of the projects I’m sharing with this collection. On the cover, I used one of the images with an adorable fairy peeking from behind the flowers. I added vintage velvet millinery flowers, a glittered skeleton leaf, and glittered a butterfly from the paper collection. The trim and wood frame are from my stash, and I typed the title on my vintage typewriter.

Let’s take a look inside to see what those fairies are up to. This page is a collage of the Bo Bunny papers (including the glittered fairy wings) and a vintage photo.

I liked that I didn’t have to do much to embellish these already beautiful papers. They already have that layered, vintage look that I love.

Captured Fairy

I found this little fairy prancing through the garden yesterday. She was enjoying our cooler weather, and I think she was confused that summer may be over here in Texas.

Now that we’ve had some fun, how about some details. I have been loving the new Enchanted Harvest collection from Bo Bunny. I usually see fairies for spring and sometimes Christmas, but I can’t recall a collection that included them for autumn. It is so fun and adorable!

For this project, I started with a plain wooden candlestick for the base and an empty tin (that used to be full of Prima flowers).

I started with a ledger paper from Prima and added vintage images to create Fairy Land.

Believe ATC

Another project published in the recent Create: Vintage magazine. I made this ATC using a variety of scraps and an image from a vintage postcard.

I added glittered butterfly wings and paper hats to turn her into a fairy. The frame stamps are from Recollections.
