Fairy Friends

I’m back again with another fun, spring inspired hanging.

I started with a ledger paper from Prima and added vintage images to create Fairy Land.

A cluster of pretty flowers make the fairies feel right at home.

Always

Now that the holidays are over and all of the Christmas decorations are packed away, my house looks so cold and bare. Time to warm it up with some pretty crafts!

I tested out a few collage techniques and have been happy with the results. Here is one of them: Always.

I used a scrap of cardboard for the base and then started layering my papers. I stenciled, inked, and sprayed a piece of white cardstock, and then layered vintage wallpaper and sheet music with an old French postcard.

I added cluster of various flowers and a doily scrap. I used a small metal hanger to display the piece.

Home Is Where My Heart Is

Yes, I know that isn’t how the saying goes, but I like my variation better 🙂

I made this hanging when we were in the midst of selling our house, and waiting to purchase our new one. Now that we’re moved in, I’m still working on putting some heart into this big, ugly house. We’ll get there eventually.

I cut a house shape out of chipboard and then covered it in beautiful 7 Gypsies papers. The trim at the bottom is from Maya Road. I added some vintage trim and buttons to the top and tied on a sparkly bow.

I’m searching for just the right spot to hang this in the new house…

Grandmom

It has been way too long since my last post! We finally found a house to move into and closed on both the old and the new in mid-July. We picked the hottest weekend to move, but we are now in the new house. We’ve already started the remodeling and redecorating. New wood floors are down throughout much of the first floor. Now the painting can begin. We are covering up some very dark (and unusual) color combinations, but so far so good. They make a primer for everything and we are taking advantage of that!

The first room that will be complete is my new craft room. I can’t wait to get in there and start creating again! I’ll share some before and after photos once we’re done.

In the meantime…

I had a couple of projects published in last month’s Create Vintage issue...

The Stockings Were Hung

…by the chimney with care.

That’s the sentiment that finishes this sweet hanging. I started with a piece of muslin that I sandwiched between a piece of cotton batting (behind the muslin) and a scrap of burlap. I stitched all three together and then I added this sweet image on top.

I embellished with a fabric ruffle, old tattered tulle, and some shiny bells, ornaments, and tinsel.

I typed the sentiment on my vintage typewriter, and used another scrap of muslin for the hanger.

She’s all ready for Santa!
