Be Brave

Today I’m sharing my latest design team project for The Crafty Scrapper.

This month I made a layout using the Tim Holtz Dapper collection. This collection is full of vintage ephemera images that have a great masculine feel. I knew it was perfect to highlight this photo of my grandfather (on the left) and his friend. My grandfather served with the Navy in the Pacific in WWII. I have a couple of photos of him in his uniform, and they are a great treasure.

I started with one of the 12×12 papers in the collection for my background, and then added multiple layers of Distress Paint, Distress Stain, modeling paste, and Distress Inks. I used stencils for the modeling paste bricks and the inked stars...

Pretty in Pink Layout

Today I’m sharing my latest creation for The Crafty Scrapper design team: a layout I made using the new Julie Nutting “Belle Vie” collection and Maya Road goodies.

I started with one of the 12×12 papers from the collection – “Floral.” Because the pattern on this paper is a little busy, I masked an area in the center using craft paint to really make my photo stand out. I cut out the quote from another paper in the collection.

I used Glossy Accents to draw random circles around my photo and then sprinkled on the glitter. For even more sparkle, I added a few vintage sequins and a couple of the new Tim Holtz mirrored hearts.

To give my layout an anchor, I layered a couple of beautiful organza and silk ribbons from May Arts. I made a fluffy ruffle, which I stitched to the layout...

Happy Life

For the first time in I can’t remember how long, I made a scrapbook layout! I was going through some photos I printed a while ago, and just loved this picture of Lily Munchkin. We were celebrating New Year’s Eve, and that kid loves a party.

I used an old paper from Basic Grey and painted an area in the middle with craft, acrylic, and glitter paints. I gave the munchkin glittery wings and set her atop a field of colorful flowers.

I made the banners at the top using vintage lace, that I added glitter to, and some random scraps of paper.

I remember how excited she was when midnight arrived and everyone started cheering, blowing horns, and ringing noisemakers.

Dreams

What a long blogging break I’ve been on! I expect it will continue for a bit longer. We did find a house to buy and we will close and move into it in mid-July. In the meantime, I have been busy packing up our house and getting everything ready to move.

I wanted to finally share a project I made for Mother’s Day. I made three variations of this layout (for me, my mom, and my sister) that features a sweet photo of Lily Munchkin sound asleep.

I used beautiful patterned paper from Sassafras and embellished with all sorts of bits and bobs.

I added Maya Road chipboard wings that I coated in glossy white enamel paint from Ranger.

She looks so sweet and angelic. Lily Munchkin couldn’t understand why she had wings, so she was told “because she didn’t have horns to put on you instead!” 🙂

Love

I am following along with Sugar Lump Studios’ 14 Days of Love this February, and trying to share as many projects as I can.

I’ve been busy in my craft room, trying to squeeze in the projects before I have to pack it all up later this month.

I took this photo of Husband and Lily Munchkin when she visited for Christmas. I knew I wanted to create a layout that was simpler and more masculine than I normally would with Lily Munchkin’s photos.

Here is what I came up with:

I cut text from various papers and supplemented with computer-typed text where needed. It says: In the entire world, throughout all time, I will never love anyone as much as I love the two of you.
