Notes from the Sea Mini Album

Today I’m sharing my design team post for The Crafty Scrapper. This month, I made a mini album using Prima’s new French Riviera collection and embellishments from Maya Road.

I started with a Maya Road chipboard album that I painted and inked to get an aged gray-blue color that matches the Prima papers. For the cover I layered various papers – from the Prima collection and from my stash of vintage books.

Here is a close-up of the embellishments – including a compass I made using a Maya Road wood frame charm. I printed a compass image, then distressed it with ink and adhered it to the inside of the charm. I used a Maya Road mini arrow charm and then painted the top piece of the frame with Distress Paint.

Happy Life

For the first time in I can’t remember how long, I made a scrapbook layout! I was going through some photos I printed a while ago, and just loved this picture of Lily Munchkin. We were celebrating New Year’s Eve, and that kid loves a party.

I used an old paper from Basic Grey and painted an area in the middle with craft, acrylic, and glitter paints. I gave the munchkin glittery wings and set her atop a field of colorful flowers.

I made the banners at the top using vintage lace, that I added glitter to, and some random scraps of paper.

I remember how excited she was when midnight arrived and everyone started cheering, blowing horns, and ringing noisemakers.

Silly Lily

I finally made another layout. These papers are in the Crate Paper Restoration collection that I just purchased. I loved the bold colors and funky patterns, and knew they’d be perfect for a layout with photos of my niece, Lily Munchkin, a.k.a. Silly Lily.

I took these photos of her when we had lunch during my birthday celebration in L.A. She usually refuses to smile for the camera, so I had to trick her into getting a good photo – hence the shots of her making silly faces.

After layering the patterned papers, I stitched a border, added the photos, and then layered on the embellishments: Webster’s Pages Bloomers trim and butterfly sticker, Crate Paper journaling spot, Stella Rose label stickers, buttons, and various trim, paper, and ribbon scraps...
