Pretty in Pink Layout

Today I’m sharing my latest creation for The Crafty Scrapper design team: a layout I made using the new Julie Nutting “Belle Vie” collection and Maya Road goodies.

I started with one of the 12×12 papers from the collection – “Floral.” Because the pattern on this paper is a little busy, I masked an area in the center using craft paint to really make my photo stand out. I cut out the quote from another paper in the collection.

I used Glossy Accents to draw random circles around my photo and then sprinkled on the glitter. For even more sparkle, I added a few vintage sequins and a couple of the new Tim Holtz mirrored hearts.

To give my layout an anchor, I layered a couple of beautiful organza and silk ribbons from May Arts. I made a fluffy ruffle, which I stitched to the layout...

Domestic Goddess

Today I’m sharing my latest project for The Crafty Scrapper.

I started with a burlap base, that I made sturdier by sewing a piece of chipboard between two pieces of burlap.

The background scene is from Bo Bunny’s new “Soiree” collection. These papers are so soft and pretty, I am in love! It’s like a mix of “Shabby Chic” meets “Fixer Upper”. Anyway, back to the project.

My plan was to add one of my vintage pattern girls to the scene, and lo and behold, I have one sitting down (of course I do). I gave her some depth by adhering with pop dots.

Then I layered on the trims and embellishments – all available at The Crafty Scrapper. These new fabric flowers from Maya Road are so soft and elegant.

I am super excited to be participating in the holiday tag series on The Crafty Scrapper blog. I hope you’ll check them out each day as each designer shares a new inspiring creation. And, there will be a prize giveaway each day!

For today, I’m sharing my Winter Wonderland tag.

And the best part is, I added lights, to make it a true winter wonderland!

Let me tell you how I did it. I started with a large manila tag that I used for the base – this is what the lights get attached to. Here is the back of the tag:

You can see that I used a string of battery-powered lights. I strung the lights through the hole in the top of the tag and used metal ducting tape to secure the wire to the back. I used small pieces of this same tape to secure the lights to the front of the tag.

To create the “prett...

Believe in Magic

I am kicking off the Christmas season with an ornament that I made for a recent event. I was an instructor at The Crafty Scrapper’s Christmas Carousel event this past Saturday. It was a long, fun day of crafting.

For my project, I started with a cardboard base that I die cut (using an old die that I have no idea who makes it). Then we painted it using two colors of Distress paint – Iced Spruce and Weathered Wood. Then we added Forest Moss Distress Stain, Pewter Perfect Pearls Mist, and silver Bo Bunny Glitter Paste.

The dies are all Tim Holtz. The adorable Santa image is from Authentique’s new Christmastime collection. We painted, glittered, and embossed a wooden snowflake from Do Crafts.

We also dyed seam binding with Fired Brick Distress Ink, and added a spritz of the Pewter Perfect Pe...

Family

Today I’m sharing a new design team project for The Crafty Scrapper. This time, I’m showing off the new Bo Bunny “Enchanted Harvest” collection. I am still in love with this paper collection, and have already made several projects with it. The images are adorable and the colors really have me in the mood for fall.

Now that fall has arrived, I’m already thinking of our upcoming holidays, including Thanksgiving. When I think of Thanksgiving, I think of family. I wanted to create a home decor piece that incorporates all of those feelings.

I started with a piece of burlap that I folded and stitched at the top to create a sleeve (like a curtain) to hang on a vintage butter knife (yes, I have everything in my stash). Then I started layering my papers, images, and trims.
