Your Love

Today I’m sharing my project for The Crafty Scrapper’s Valentine’s Day challenge. I wanted to do something a little different, so I used the Maya Road Petite Pallet and turned it into a little house collage.

Turquoise, red, and pink are one of my favorite color combinations, so I wanted to use those colors for this project. I painted the pallet with a combination of Picket Fence Distress Paint, Weathered Wood Distress Paint, and Tumbled Glass Distress Stain. I made a roof out of cardboard and then covered it Maggie Holmes “Bloom” patterned paper that I cut into strips using an edge punch.

I cut a heart from cardboard and then covered it in Fired Brick Distress Paint and then heat embossed it with red glitter embossing powder.

I layered embellishments, including a Tim Holtz arrow and P...

The Project

Back in November, I taught at The Crafty Scrapper’s Christmas Carousel event. It was an all-day event, where I taught this 1-hour class five times. It was an exhausting day, but a lot of fun – especially for all the women who were crafting.

I used Prima’s “Sweet Peppermint” collection to make this Santa’s Visit gift card holder. We started with plain chipboard that we cut and scored into a little sleeve and drawer.

We decorated the box inside and out.

Some embellishments from Maya Road (bottle brush tree) and Tim Holtz (mini reindeer) are decorated and blinged to make Santa feel welcome.

I wonder how many of the crafters are going to give away their boxes? I don’t think I could part with it!

The Cards

Each year, I make a new batch of Christmas cards. They are usually a vintage style and almost always feature an image that evokes memories of Christmases past.

This year, I decided to use up some of the supplies that are hanging around the craft room. I combined the new Prima “Sweet Peppermint” papers with some older Bo Bunny, or whatever I had on hand.

I usually make one style of card and then create a pile that are all identical. This year, I used a similar style on all the cards, but each is different. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

Each card has a vintage book page, various patterned papers, and a beautiful vintage image as the centerpiece. Some of the images are from patterned papers and others are printed from vintage postcards.

Be Brave

Today I’m sharing my latest design team project for The Crafty Scrapper.

This month I made a layout using the Tim Holtz Dapper collection. This collection is full of vintage ephemera images that have a great masculine feel. I knew it was perfect to highlight this photo of my grandfather (on the left) and his friend. My grandfather served with the Navy in the Pacific in WWII. I have a couple of photos of him in his uniform, and they are a great treasure.

I started with one of the 12×12 papers in the collection for my background, and then added multiple layers of Distress Paint, Distress Stain, modeling paste, and Distress Inks. I used stencils for the modeling paste bricks and the inked stars...

Treasure Box from Beneath the Sea

Today I’m sharing my latest design team project for The Crafty Scrapper – a mystical treasure box that I created using papers from Graphic 45’s Voyage Beneath the Sea collection along with a G45 ATC Book Box that I altered.

First, I prepped my box by cutting a window in the front so you can peer inside at the treasure it holds. I added a design to the front using embossing paste and a Tim Holtz stencil. Then I painted the box using a mix of Tim Holtz sprays and paints to achieve a weathered, watery effect. Once my box was prepped, it was ready for embellishing!

I started by fussy cutting several of the designs from the steampunk-mermaid-inspired papers. Then I started layering the paper embellishments with shells, Petaloo flowers, and Maya Road metal embellishments.
