Mixed Media Painting

Today I’m sharing my latest design team project for The Crafty Scrapper – a fun and easy mixed media project. I started with a sheet of the new Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins printed papers. These papers have a sueded texture that is perfect for layering inks, paints, sprays, dyes…. You name it! They also have several gorgeous designs to choose from, which will help your project look like a professional masterpiece!

I used the Nature pattern for my background. I painted it using a mix of watered-down sprays from Dylusions, Tim Holtz, Perfect Pearls, and even Tim’s Distress Markers.

I let each color dry before adding a new color, but could then go in with a wet paint brush and blend the colors – like I did on the lilies and the butterfly.

For You Card

Today I’m sharing my latest design team project for The Crafty Scrapper. This month, I made a card with Prima’s beautiful new Tales of You and Me collection. I started with a shimmering pink Bazzill cardstock that I layered with an image from the Contes de Toi et Moi paper and a patterned piece from the backside of this paper.

I cut a spray of flowers from the Belles Melodies d’amour patterned paper and gave it some dimension with pop dots.

I added Diamond Stickles to the roses around the young maiden, and layered flowers from Prima’s Box Flowers – Documented Beauty and Tales of You and Me – Love Letters collection. The “For You” tag is also from the Box Flowers set.

A little seam binding ribbon is tucked behind the flowers to add more texture and softness.

Father’s Day Card

I always struggle when making masculine cards. Part of the problem is that I don’t buy masculine supplies. I love flowers and pink and glitter, which are not things I would put on a Father’s Day card. So, I dug deep into my stash to find some papers I could use to make a card for my dad for his special day.

I started by layering some patterned papers for the background. I had stained the vintage sheet music with Distress Stain for an earlier project, but it was too dark for this card, so I applied some Weathered Wood Distress Paint to tone it down.

I layered a few more paper scraps and then added a sentiment that I made with my label maker. The images are from Graphic 45’s Perfect Gentleman collection.

I hope this Father’s Day you’re able to treat dad to a nice, relaxing day.

Notes from the Sea Mini Album

Today I’m sharing my design team post for The Crafty Scrapper. This month, I made a mini album using Prima’s new French Riviera collection and embellishments from Maya Road.

I started with a Maya Road chipboard album that I painted and inked to get an aged gray-blue color that matches the Prima papers. For the cover I layered various papers – from the Prima collection and from my stash of vintage books.

Here is a close-up of the embellishments – including a compass I made using a Maya Road wood frame charm. I printed a compass image, then distressed it with ink and adhered it to the inside of the charm. I used a Maya Road mini arrow charm and then painted the top piece of the frame with Distress Paint.

Mother’s Day

While I was making my Easter cards a couple of months ago, I started thinking ahead to upcoming holidays – Mother’s Day being one of them. I used some of my pastel hued scraps to put together the base for this card.

Then I added a layer of sparkly tulle and several pink flowers. I dug through my stash of alpha stickers to find the perfect tiny letters in a complementary color.
